Welcome to the debut episode of my monthly podcast simply named “Colin’s Music Corner.” Recorded straight from my home studio and beamed directly to your ears.
I’ve been recording my practice sessions with the equipment I plan on using for performances to promote the recent album. I liked what I heard (clunkers and all), and I wanted to share. So, why a podcast and not an album or video live stream?
- I wanted to try something that suited the music besides the constant churn of algorithmic video content.
- Podcast listeners are often in transit or task mode, when screens aren’t an option. Captive listeners!
- I want to offer an audio-only medium for listeners as a way to simplify their options, close the screens, and stare at a wall or a sunset.
- My studio is typically a mess, and I want to be more in the musical moment instead of checking my hair out on camera.
- My style is improvisatory, which lends itself to longer forms, and a monthly, prerecorded performance without the need for extreme internet bandwidth or the pressure to create a perfect document seemed just the ticket.
In this episode, I play my father’s old Telecaster and Les Paul guitars. After his passing, I had them refurbished by Righteous Guitars and luthier Danny Boyles to honor our mutual love of the instrument. I can’t recommend them enough!

You’ll hear some pedal clicking on and off and some microphone clipping – not only is this the debut episode, but also a learning experience. I admit, I edited the more egregious extra-musical noises.

So tune in, hear me blather about guitars for a few minutes, and then take a sonic journey with me.
